The Constitution of the United States protects Americans from government overreach and retaliation, contained in the first ten amendments known as the Bill of Rights. While these freedoms and rights are held sacred, society does not always view them as absolute. Situational factors can determine whether the party is truly exercising their right or using it to cover fringe behavior.


The 2018 midterms came and went with less drama than anticipated. Although some prominent Democrats and left leaning media members hoped that this would alleviate their pain from 2016, it was not exactly what they hoped for. In fact, the outcome gave both sides some claim for success. As one would expect, President Trump exaggerated the outcome in his favor.
